Red FishThe Red Fish Party Rock Show
Sunday 10:00pm - Midnight

Actually, I always wanted to be a train driver. Later I changed my mind and decided to be a fighter pilot. Then at 10 years old, I started listening to music. By 14, I was heavily into The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, playing the guitar, and girls (not necessarily in that order). Later on came The Moody Blues, King Crimson, Yes, Cream, and girls. But above all there was "Progressive Music" (or "Prog""). At Uni I finally got properly sorted, and just concentrated on the fundamentals - music and Jesus.

Very much later, happily married with a family and a hi-fi, I started into the techie stuff: radio and audio engineering. First was CB radio (Citizens Band! 10-4, good buddy!), then progressing into sound mixing for live bands. For the Millennium we ran East Grinstead's first ever RSL radio station. Then along came Meridian FM. And the rest, as they say, is history… So that, dear listener, is why the Red Fish Party Rock Show is devoted to the very best in electric guitar, and to the KING of all genres - to PROG ROCK!!! Catch you Sunday nights at 10pm, then…!

I don't feel like dancing - what will you play to get me on the dance floor?
I Wish - Stevie Wonder (from the album "Songs in the Key of Life")

A day at the races or a night at the opera?
Both! Because they're fabulous films by the Marx Bros. - which I still watch every so often…

What song have you listened to the most?
My favourite audio test track - Come with Me, by Tanya Maria. A wonderfully rhythmic latino jazz/funk number, not only guaranteed to get you grooving but also perfectly mixed, and recorded with outstanding clarity. A sound guy's dream track…!

It's my round - what are you having?
An Asahi Dry, please!

Je ne regrette rien - et vous?
Moi aussi - je ne regrette rien.

I think the most underrated thing is…
The Minidisc! Such high quality digital audio, and such wonderful versatility, compressed into such a reliable, small and convenient package. Forget the mp3 player, minidisc sounds better!

RED FISH PARTY ROCK SHOW - SUNDAY NIGHTS ON MERIDIAN FM
2200h - 2400h

How do you finish off a relaxing Sunday and put yourself in the right frame of mind for Monday? Red Fish has the answer!

The Red Fish Party Rock Show will reach those parts which other radio stations can't reach, will stimulate your ears, motivate your brain, and will get those fingers twitching for your favourite air guitar…!

This is a show of two halves: first comes Part 1… and then (unsurprisingly) Part 2.

Part 1, from 10.00pm - 11.00pm, is Red's homage to the electric guitar, with the Party motto:

"Air guitar - for the people, by the people!"

So whether it's from the '70s, '80s, '90s or now, Red will play it and you can, in the comfort and privacy of your own home (keep the curtains closed), do air guitar to your heart's content.

And what's more, specially selected guests of the Party will be in the studio each night to play their air guitars just for you!

And you can see them here on our web pages!

See how Red's latest guest strutted their stuff:

So the RED FISH PARTY will play fast rock, slow rock, chilled rock, or anything, just so long as the guitar work is great…!

So if you have a special air guitar request for the show, or a favourite Axe Hero, then e-mail it right away to: red@meridianfm.com

SO JOIN THE RED FISH PARTY ON SUNDAYS AT 10.00pm - RED HAS PREPARED HIMSELF AND WILL BE EXPECTING YOU!

Now, the RED FISH PARTY - PART 2 is something rather special…
