Join Lee for a lively and unpredictable morning show on Meridian
FM.
With a wide range of studios guests and the best in music, the
Morning Show is the ideal place to stay each weekday.
A
love of music from a very early age. Strumming along on a mini
size guitar to Michelle by the Overlanders and listening to Sparky
and his magic Piano in the 60s, Lee started violin lessons very
young and now helps his daughter play. His other passion is football
and the boots still get an airing on occasions with the Vets at
East Grinstead Town.
As
a young DJ with two conventional record players wired together
and a few made up lights he did his first disco before his teens.
In the 70's his box of 7 inch singles went to every party with
him. At 17 he passed his driving test and became a mobile DJ till
he was 21.
His
career in retail management for 18 years restricted his DJ career
so it went on hold. His favourite era of music was the 80's, a
peak concert time for him he watch many live bands from this era,
Kraftwerk, Human League (still a firm favourite), Depeche Mode,
Ultravox, OMD, and many others and he did managed to get to play
footy at Selhurst Park 3 times.
A
brief two year club slot in the 90's as DJ then Lee's career went
on hold but the passion for music continued. It was to be a 10
year break before he started on the Meridian FM radio roller coaster
ride, which was in February 2006. Lee is a former founder of Meridian
FM had his presenter debut with Meridian in the first transmission
with the morning show. He has headed up a selection of shows and
the in the Summer 2008 transmission he should hit the 100 show
mark for Meridian FM.
Life
before Meridian fm - what were you up to?
Before Meridian Fm I was and still am running my own locally based
business, which supports local businesses.
I was and still am actively involved with the commercial development
of East Grinstead Town football club and see this as something
I will be doing for many, many years to come
The
first music track I bought was…
Disco Tex & his sex-o-lettes - Get Dancin, part 1 and 2. It's
a well travelled 7inch single (released in 1974), which to this
day still has my class number from middle school and form number
from secondary school on it.
I
don't feel like dancing - what will you play to get me on the
dance floor?
Good question and it depends who's asking, where the party is
and what the audience is and of course at what time during the
party
Which song sums up your journey so far?
One Vision - Queen and I do like fried Chicken!
A
day at the races or a night at the opera?
A night at the Opera
I
wish I had invented…
The Car and I would have put the seat belt fastening, when they
came out, on the outside of the seats in the back. Trying to put
seat belts on kids 'super safe seats' that fasten in the centre
of the car are a nightmare!!
The
invite says fancy dress, who are you going as?
A knight in Armour (I've already got the costume!)
Ah, there's the receipt - what are you returning and what do you
want instead?
CD player - for a record deck
What
song have you listened to the most?
Time after Time - Cyndie Lauper
I
hate to ask...but whose autograph did you insist on getting?
There are two groups ABBA and Queen
Which
song do you wish you'd written?
Slipping through my fingers - Abba from The Visitors Album track
8
It's my round - what are you having?
Malibu and Milk tall glass loads of ice
Je
ne regrette rien - et vous?
Just a few but not many
We've
been a great audience - how will you send us home smiling?
It's free
My
philosophy on life in one word is…
Live
I
have taken part in an extreme sport… (If not, which would you
consider doing?)
I've done a few but still fancy a go on Cresta run in a bath tub!
If
I could invite anyone, living or dead, to dinner for some great
conversation I would ask…
Dudley Moore, Richard Branson, my family, Freud, Phil Collins,
Amanda Burton, Michael J Fox, Kyle Minogue, Cate Blanchett, Thomas
Andrews (Ship designer) and Dame Judi Dench.
I
think the most overrated/underrated thing or person is…
The most overrated thing is professional footballers and their
salaries.
