Business As Usual for Library
Audio feature on East Grinstead Library
Major improvements to the internal structure of East Grinstead's Library began last Monday.
The refurbishment is scheduled to be completed in February 2010 and promises to offer better facilities to all ages within the local community.
In the meantime, the main building will be closed to the public but a temporary service is being offered in a mobile Library Unit at the back.
Staff are rising to the challenge during the disruption and they are determined to still provide a full lending and information service throughout the temporarily adjustment.
MeridianFM's Sharon Terry spoke to Sue Young, Simon Kerr and Barbara Broadway - three key people who are making every effort to ensure that local people can still access these vital services.
An extended version of Sue's interview will be broadcast on Thursday 1st October 2009 during 'Off the beaten Track' between 6 -8pm.
The temporary Library Unit is located in the car park at the rear of the library building.
Opening times: Monday to Friday 9.00am - 6.00pm Saturday 9.00am - 5.00pm Telephone: 01342 410050 Renewals: 01243 642110
Barbara Broadway Help Point Co-ordinator
This local government service deals with a whole range of enquiries - from bus passes and council tax to parking issues.
The service is still available and can be contacted in three ways; staff can be met at the temporary Library Unit from:
Monday - Friday 9.30am - 5.30pm* Saturday 9.30am - 12.30pm.*
In addition, a Help Point desk is situated in Waitrose next door and this will be staffed from:
Monday - Friday 10.00am - 12 noon and 2.00pm - 4.00pm.
*Telephone during these hours: 01342 300780
Simon Kerr Tourist Information Officer and Local Business Support
Simon is available to respond in person to any request for information via the temporary Library Unit.
Just ask for Simon and he will appear and deal with your query. Apparently, Simon asked for a fireman's pole to be fitted from his office window but has to make do with using the stairs...nevertheless he is determined to still provide a quality service during the library improvements.
He can be contacted by telephone on 01342 410121
