Meridian FM Transmission Project

Meridian FM was offered a full-time community radio licence by Ofcom in July 2009.

The volunteer station already owns studio equipment but currently lacks the means to transmit, as we don't own a transmitter. For our five short term FM licences between 2006 and 2008, we hired equipment.

We now need to fund and purchase a transmission system, pictured above. The top 'box' is a 50 watt FM transmitter. In the centre is an audio processor and on the bottom is the RDS unit. In addition to the equipment, there will be a cost for installation and commissioning, plus some new aerial cable.

The complete system, with a mounting box and aerial cable will cost £3,554.

To date, we have received a £1,000 grant from the North Mid-Sussex County Local Committee, together with a private donation of £500 and £185 raised at the second Meridian FM picnic. The Lingfield Marathon committee awarded us £350 and the Battle of the Bands raised a grand total of £742. Other donations means that the transmitter fund total today stands at £2,973.
