Daryn Buckley
I joined Meridian FM in May 2007. I'd always wanted to work in radio, but thought it would be an impossible dream. In the end, it took two emails, a demo tape and an interview with the then Head of Programming and I was on!
I've done various shows at various times: an alternative music show, the breakfast show, a show with a different theme each week called Heroes with the MIGHTY Steve Hall, a Friday evening music quiz called Somebody Help Me with Neil Symon and Steve Hall and a show at teatime on Friday called...The Friday Show with our chairman Liz Bennett.
I currently do a show each Tuesday night between 9pm and 11pm called Unknown Pleasures, in which I celebrate 50 years of alternative music.
In July 2011, I joined the management team at Meridian as Head of Training and Development. This is a bit of a busman's holiday for me as, by day, I am a Learning & Development Manager for a large insurance company. My aim is to make sure anyone who presents on the station gets a chance to develop their skills and become the best presenter they can be. that way Meridian FM and our community both benefit.
I am a big football fan, being a fanatical supporter of Manchester City, I write and record my own music and I have a 4 year old daughter who keeps me very occupied!
